PT LOMA NAVAL BASE BUILDING #1

San Diego, CA | $2M major rehabilitation

Services

+ Corrosion repair

+ Concrete repair

+ Seal replacement

Background

The building had severe life safety, water intrusion, major corrosion, and spalling concrete falling from the vertical surfaces. The government engineer team provided a product specification and repair method that would have masked the issues and promoted more severe failures to the building envelope.

Solution

We worked with government engineers and product suppliers to formulate a rehab scope for a four-story, 136,855 sq ft military complex with substantial failing concrete façade.

Process

+ Repair and replacement of corroded exposed steel reinforcement and

spalling concrete on fluted exterior façade.

+ Forming and placing concrete in place on vertical and horizontal building façade

+ Removal and replacement of building sealants at exposed joints, windows, and door surrounds

+ Replacement of wet seal at glazing

+ Removal and replacement of corroded railings

+ Installation of roof and pedestrian coatings

+ Refinishing window mullions with high performance system

+ Coating all vertical concrete with anti-corrosion coating

Results

We delivered a solution to restore this military complex and help eliminate further deterioration of the building structure. All was completed on time and on budget.
