MCRD BUILDINGS 10, 12, 15, 26

San Diego, CA | $1.5M restoration

Services

+ Engineer a solution to the failing coating system

+ Plaster removal

+ Stucco replacement

+ Seal and paint

Background

We were contacted by a local federal 8(a) contractor who had the opportunity to rehab the exterior of four historical buildings at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD). The government was at a loss on how to best repair the buildings while keeping them in service. A previous contractor had improperly applied an elastomeric coating on the buildings’ exterior causing moisture to be trapped behind the coating which was causing the plaster to completely fail.

Solution

Along with our vendors, we devised a plan to remove all the failing plaster and apply a STO Complete Rehab system.

Process

+ New flexible base waterproofing

+ New self-cleaning acrylic stucco finish system

+ Sealing all penetrations

+ High performance acrylic finish paint on windows and doors

Results

The finished project exceeded all expectations while being completed within the original timeline.
